THE DA'WAH STRATEGY OF MUHAMMADIYAH REGIONAL LEADERSHIP IN WEST NUSA TENGGARA THROUGH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS (A STUDY AT MUA’LLIMIN MUHAMMADIYAH BOARDING SCHOOL, WEST LOMBOK)

Abstract

This study examines the da'wah strategy of the West Nusa Tenggara Muhammadiyah Regional Board through its educational charitable efforts at the Mu’allimin Muhammadiyah Boarding School. This research is motivated by the crucial role of educational institutions as instruments of da'wah in shaping a generation with Islamic character and broad insights. This study aims to analyze the da'wah strategy applied by Pimpinan Wilayah Muhammadiyah NTB in improving the quality of education and students' religious understanding. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation studies, with data sources comprising administrators, teachers, and students. The results indicate that the da'wah strategy is implemented through the reinforcement of a religion-based curriculum such as Al-Qur'an memorization (tahfiz), hadith studies, and classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) as well as the internalization of Islamic values for character building. This strategy has successfully enhanced students' religious comprehension and academic quality, despite facing challenges related to limited infrastructure and the heterogeneous background of the students.
